International Trade Relations

From the Office of the Chancellor:

The first successful international trade shipment has left Siar Fordell!

Based on the abundance of crops produced during our last harvest, the Chancellor has agreed to an exchange of agricultural produce with one of our feudal neighbors. This trade is a big step up from the subsistence farming that we normally practice. It allows us to profit from our crops and diversify our graneries and stores.

We look forward to future mutually beneficial relationships with our neighboring fiefdoms.

Harvest!

From the Office of the Steward:

This past weekend The Thegn-Hold engaged a group of visiting serfs to assist with the harvest. Thus far we have had an excellent crop of tomatoes and with a fair amount of bell peppers harvested as well. Due to the staggered sewing techniques that is employed in the fields, we expect several more crops to be ready in the next few weeks as more plants and fruits mature.

In other areas, the refinishing of the kitchens at the manor house of Stoney Pointe is nearing completion, allowing for an increase in efficiency for the staff, and the weather heating up will allow for more curing and harvesting of sea salts for both feeding the people, and exporting.

Military Adviser sent to the Duchy of the Lowcountry

The Duchy of the Lowcountry has commissioned a military adviser from Siar Fordell as an officer in their military in order to assist the allied micronation in organizing and training their military forces.

Thus far there have been multiple training exercises on defense and patrolling techniques, as well as a reorganization of the command structure of the Lowcountry’s military in order to more easily facilitate an active combat or emergency response force.

We in the office of the Thegn and his chancellor believe that this cooperation and assistance will be fruitful and beneficial to all involved.

The Duchy of the Lowcountry

The Chancellor of the Thegn-Hold of Siar Fordell has completed preliminary negotiations with Duke Jeffery of the Duchy of the Lowlands to enter into an agreement of free trade and mutual recognition of his micronation.

We hope that this agreement can lead to prosperous dealings between our two states and look forward to working with the Duchy in the future.

Trade relations, financial services, and military cooperation are all foreseeable possibilities with this fine nation.

Raise a glass to the Duchy of the Lowcountry!

John Marshall, Thegn of Siar Fordell

New Crops Planted!

The Steward of Siar Fordell would like to announce another successful plowing season! After the failure of cucumbers and squash last year in this bleak drought (The Stoney Pointe estates have a remarkably Mediterranean climate) It was decided by the Thegn, under advice from his staff, to consolidate the crops for the next harvest.

The eastern field has been seeded with tomatoes of several varieties, and there is green fruit ripening on the vine from last years remaining vines.

The western field, by contrast, is now completely devoted to bell peppers. The moderate success of these crops last year will be reevaluated and more attention will be paid to make sure that the Thegn-Hold gets as much of a harvest as we can.

In addition to the crops a series of box wood hedges have been planted around the curtain wall – ostensibly to placate the lady of the house with their appearance, but the Thegn insists it is for the more militaristic purpose of acting as an additional to anyone attempting to scale the wall, or drop into the courtyard uninvited.

Establishment of the Thegn-Hold of Siar Fordell

I, John Marshall, consolidating my estates gained through force of arms and honorable military service, and all tenants, garrisons, and properties within, declare them to be henceforth known as the Thegn-Hold of Siar Fordell with myself as hereditary liege lord.

This semi-autonomous feudal state will serve as a vehicle to manage, maintain, and administer these sovereign holdings with an emphasis on efficiency, self-reliance, and entertainment.
